FAQ for Radio, TV, Cable

For most electronic media, automotive is, by far, the largest advertiser category. The revenue generated from this category has historically come from new car advertising. Yet used car advertising, both from the used car departments of new car dealers and from established used car lots, is where the dealers make the majority of their profits. The used cart advertising budget represents an enormous amount of revenue that is currently monopolized by the local newspaper classifieds section.

It’s time for broadcasters to get a piece of this huge used-car-advertising-pie!

Who reaches used car buyers better than broadcasters? Nobody! As automotive listings migrate from print to the Web, broadcast media should own this important category of business.

As the newspaper monopoly wanes, your company, in offering this product, has a unique opportunity to create a powerful new position in the minds of automobile dealers and consumers alike. With RegionalAutos.com, you can "own the franchise" to the dominant local automotive classified site – on a market exclusive basis.

What’s the deal?

RegionalAutos.com builds a local website e.g., "AutosInReno.com." You sell the new and used car dealers in your market and retain all the revenue from those sales. RegionalAutos.com retains all banner revenues and single posting revenues.

What do broadcasters need to do?

  1. Sell the local auto dealers
  2. Promote the site

What's in it for the stations?

  1. Your stations retain 100% of all revenue from the car dealers sold in your market.
  2. Your stations become the exclusive sponsor and provider of the site.

What’s the cost to my stations?

  1. Your stations retain 100% of all money from car dealers!
  2. Market-exclusive rights to the product are just $1,000 to $7,000 per month based on market size.

How much should my stations charge the dealers?

That’s entirely your choice based on your particular circumstances. Some stations will offer the site as value-added, others will charge a monthly fee with no on-air inventory (100% non-spot NTR.) Since you retain all dealer revenue and since you have exclusive rights within your market, the pricing options are entirely yours.

Who sells the dealers?

Your sales team does all the selling. Your stations maintain control of the relationships with the dealers including sales, billings, collections, servicing, renewals, etc.

Who is responsible for technical issues?

RegionalAutos.com handles all technical issues including tech support.

How is dealer inventory posted on the site?

Easy. RegionalAutos.com is able to take a feed directly from the dealer or their web site provider. If the dealer’s inventory is listed on any other online site, it can be easily imported and maintained. Also, if a dealer does not have their inventory listed online yet, RegionalAutos.com provide will them with the ability to upload inventory, details, and vehicle photos by using our state of the art web based backend tool. This can be their web site.

Why pay RegionalAutos.com rather than doing it alone?

Do you really want to obtain the capital, endure the building and testing processes and identify and hire people to maintain a website? Or does it make sense to hire a company that specializes in building user-friendly classified websites with an impressive track record of substantial growth and excellent service to customers? Working with RegionalAutos.com allows you to work with a trusted partner, while doing what you do best… selling and servicing your important accounts.

Is this truly a market-exclusive product?

Absolutely. RegionalAutos.com will contract with just one radio, television or cable group in each market.

There are already a bunch of other auto websites. What makes this one different?

Local, Local, Local. The site is not called Autos.com… it’s called AutosInMARKETNAME.com.So unlike those competitors, your pitch is that all cars and trucks on your site are LOCAL. Combine that local focus with the awesome power of your medium and the result is likely to overshadow the other automotive websites. In addition your local RegionalAutos.com website is going to concentrate on used cars … a segment that is very important to the bottom line of all the dealers in your market!

The daily newspaper has a local car site. Isn't that a problem?

No. Their site is likely only promoted in their newspaper. With your TV or radio stations, you’re reaching younger, more active adults, the perfect market for the used cars on your RegionalAutos.com site.

Where can one see a RegionalAutos.com site?

Go to www.AutosInReno.com; our first site. Search around for a used car. It’s a very user-friendly site; and almost every car dealer in Reno is participating.

Do you provide Radio and TV production to stations?

Radio production: yes. TV production: not yet. You can listen to the radio spots for Reno at: http://www.autosinreno.com/radio-ads.html. They are pretty extraordinary. We think you’ll be proud to air them.

Do you provide training to my sales staff?

Yes! We offer either internet based training at no charge, or in person training for only $250.00/day plus travel expenses. Our experienced team of Internet Auto Industry Professionals will come to your market, train your sales staff in your board room, and then call on dealers alongside your account executives proving them with valuable information to effectively sell the product. Some markets have chosen to host a dealer presentation, conducted by our training staff in a breakfast setting where multiple dealers were invited to.
